The First Dance PDF Print E-mail
Written by Michaelene Jewett

Imagine this scene:  You and your significant other have left the *insert wedding ceremony location here*.  You can’t wait to announce your entrance as husband and wife.  You both are nestled together as you await the food, bustling guests and caterers, the smells of flowers and perhaps champagne.  But, of course, you also think about the dancing you will have to do.  You’ll perhaps dance with your father, brothers, friends, sisters and all those other eager relatives.  But it’s with your significant other - when you can spend a few minutes alone - that will truly lighten up your face.

Newspaper Annoucements PDF Print E-mail
Written by Christina Page

One way a couple can announce their engagement to a big audience is to put it in the newspaper. This is usually done shortly after the engagement but can be done up to two to three months before the wedding date.  If you plan on getting married in your hometown but live elsewhere, the announcement should be in your hometown and where you currently reside.

The parents of the bride traditionally are the ones to submit the announcement, but it can be done by the bride and/or groom. It should include full names, city and state of residence and (if you prefer) the highest level of education and current employment. You can also include where you plan to have your honeymoon and where you will live after you are married.

Typically, engagement and wedding announcements are a public service of the newspaper though they may charge a fee for adding a photo.  Here is a link to one of the local papers where you can submit your announcement online.  http://nwitimes.com/app/pages/celebrations/announcements/ Someone from the paper will usually contact you before it goes to print to verify the information.

The Color Strategy
It’s a new year and this year’s bride is going to love creating their wedding in a host of amazing colors with classic touches. The best way to describe what is likely to be the most popular theme would be “exotic tropics’. Bold and vibrant turquoise and ocean blues are being paired with sun-drenched yellows, oranges with touches of deep reds. If intense colors aren’t your style, you may choose a softer appeal; envision day-glow shades of pink with delicate grays.  Either color scheme can be offset with black accessories, flowers, and table linens to create a 1950’s retro look. Or you can take the ultra classic route and go for all black and white, it is very sheik.
